Young makers go on an adventure in this online edition of The Square. Expect a series of totally different and surprising nights around a dance piece by a promising talent. All pieces have been adapted for video and are filmed on special locations.
Besides dance you can expect a look behind the scenes of Scapino and you have the option to participate in a Q&A with the dancers and makers.
Choreographers Alba Castillo, Justin de Jager, Joost Vrouwenraets, Borna Babić and Shailesh Bahoran will create work for The Square recordings before the summer. After the first two sessions with Alba Castillo and Justin de Jager, there will be new livestreams on our video platform Scapino Streamt on June 3, 10 and 17.
Thursday June 3 - Shailesh Bahoran
Yantra from Theater Zuidplein
Working from his Indian roots, he contributes figures (Yantras), symbols that refer to a certain form of energy. What follows is an intuitive process between a young, passionate choreographer and Scapino's two most experienced dancers: Bonnie Doets and Mischa van Leeuwen.
Thursday June 10 - Joost Vrouenraets
Fall of a sparrow from Discovery Museum Kerkrade
Fall of a sparrow is a new piece by Joost Vrouenraets, his first encounter with our dancers. He took Scapino's dancers to what might be the most spectacular movie hall of The Netherlands: inside the Discovery Museum in Kerkrade.
Thursday June 17 - Borna Babić
The End does not see from Tallship Eendracht
