Georg Reischl
Georg Reischl was educated at the Balletschule des Landestheaters Salzburg and the Balletschule des Österreichischer Bundestheater Wien. He was associated with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam as a dancer and choreographer for four years.
In 1999 he left for William Forsythe's Frankfurt Ballet, where he remained for seven years as a dancer and choreographer. From December 2006 to 2010 he was associated with Scapino as a choreographer and teacher. His first choreography One - but not the same, made for the annual Scapino Workshop, was performed by the company during a German tour. A year later, also for the workshop, he made the well-received Insert the start from. In a longer adaptation, the piece had its foreign premiere at Tanztheater Wien.
Choreographer in residence
In 1998, at the invitation of Ed Wubbe, he made his first choreography for Scapino's regular repertoire, Located behaviour, shaped in attitude. In 1999 he created Somewhere around, Around somewhere for Scapino, followed by State disrupted, which was part of the Scapino performance TWOOLS 3 in 2000. In 2001 he created Indirigendwo, a ballet for nine dancers for Volksoper Wien. In 2002 he made Temporary spaces for Scapino (2002), set to music by Michiel Jansen and in 2006 FO(4)R.
Workshops
In addition to creating the new pieces, Reischl is continuously passionate about dance and dance development through various diverse projects. For example, Reischl gives classical ballet lessons to the Scapino dancers, and he teaches students at the Rotterdam Dance Academy in ballet and improvisation. He was also a guest teacher of ballet for professional dancers at the Henny Jurriëns Foundation. In October of last year, he taught improv for a week in America at the UCI University in Los Angeles. In April 2008 he gave the international Workshop Body Awareness Training for professional dancers in the Scapino studios, focusing on the body in time and space.
Projects
During the Haarlem festival 'De Stad als Podium', Wandelba(a)r was on display in the Frans Hals Museum. A location project with special choreography for Scapino dancers and a cellist Nina Hitz. For the Go With the Flow project in Dansweek 2007, Reischl collaborated with amateur dancers from the Amateur DansWerkplaats and the Center for Amateur Art Noord Brabant and they jointly provided a dance performance in Theaters Tilburg.
With [framework], which premiered in February 2010, Reischl said goodbye to the company, where he worked for three seasons as a resident choreographer. Reischl works as a freelance choreographer from Berlin.
