Ed Wubbe created Bittersweet in the dance style typical for him, elegant and stylized, with a strong classical foundation but also with a quirky edge and a lot of expressiveness.
Inspired by the often emotionally charged work of Marlene Dumas he wants to show the dancers as people. He focuses on the contrasts in the way they move and the different meanings they express with their movements. Beauty and ugliness, hard and soft, light and dark, in all its facets. By moving, one catches a glimpse of the soul, a glimpse Bittersweet.
